I was commissioned by BDA Architecture to photograph their latest Sports Science Centre building at Bond University. This new build was positioned at the western end of an existing pool complex. Connectivity between old and new came in the form of change room facilities before you entered into the new building. The main entry lobby caters for large groups of athletes and a central stair element leads you up and into the main gymnasium complete with just about every machine that lifts, swings, stretches, pushes and pulls you into shape. There are also a series of rooms behind main reception, linked via a transparent, mullioned corridor looking down into a landscape internal courtyard, for multi-purpose activities such as lectures, yoga, massage and practical work experience.

Main entry facade to the Sports Science Building, Bond University
Its a hive of activity first thing in the morning with many people already finished their gruelling workouts for the day.
At night time the super graphics applied to the large aluminium window panels comes to life.
Big roof overhangs. Every architectural photographers dream element. Go big or go home.
Connection elements of existing pool area and new sports science building. Change room facilities off to the right of shot and the large glass panels in the background provide gym users inside an uninterrupted view of pool activity.
Main entry lobby is scaled to accommodate large groups. The double height glass panels allows plenty of natural morning light into the space.
Second level link corridors all have transparent walling for views back down onto the main gym floor.
I swear he put another 40kg each side when he saw me setting up for this shot........
Mullioned corridor elements with views down into the main centrally landscaped courtyard
Very trendy change room facilities complete with high level bladed windows for natural light.
