NEW PHOTOGRAPHIC WORK
UPPERHOUSE

For those of you who have noticed a change on the South Brisbane skyline you would recognise this iconic statement. Koichi Takada and ARIA approached me to photograph his first signature project in the Brisbane landscape. True to everything Koichi believes in, this nature inspired project borrows from the organic forms of the Daintree Rainforest in Far North Queensland, Australia.

The brief was simple yet comprehensive. Capture the organic nature of the building's elements whilst curate a series of images that documents the high quality spaces and finishes used throughout this development. The imagery had to convey the buildings context within the broader landscape as well as reflect the more intimate scale of resident interactions within the facilities.

The commission took part over a four day period allowing enough time to work contextually, gain rooftop access points for key shots as well as record ground level lobby / entry spaces with activation and engagement. This building has Australia's first double storey rooftop wellness club including main pool precinct, relaxation areas, gynasium, sauna, spa, yoga room, massage room, BBQ areas, private dining rooms and cinema. 4am starts allowed me to create pool imagery that showcased the views that this building commands over the Brisbane CBD. I was also tasked in capturing a typical apartment and a range of various materials used throught the building including leather clad walls in the cinema.

Capturing this project I employed the use of a large format technical camera matched up to Rodenstock lenses and Phase One digital back capture. Projects of this nature demand key architectural photography applications to control perspective, scale and compression whilst at the same time deliver to a client that expects nothing but the best in image delivery.
